5Best helmet I've ever owned
By Canyon VTXrider
I've never wanted a modular because I didn't want to (or the design didn't allow it) ride with it up. Most of them in the up position are for when you are stopped and want/need to talk to someone and don't want to yell through your FF.

First thing, web bike world says this helmet is heavy at just over 4 lbs BUT it is extremely well balanced. I never really felt the weight, and I wore it for 8-10 hours a day for 7 straight days riding cross country last week! Taking it off I didn't feel like "oh man, glad to have that off my head" feeling.

Sight:
I have excellent peripheral vision, just had an eye exam before the trip. With the chin bar up or down I could NOT see the sides of the helmet at all. In fact the helmet is so well balanced that with the chin bar in the up position I almost forgot I was wearing a helmet! With the bar down I could see the very front of it but it didn't affect sight if gauges much at all.

Noise:
I'm deaf in one ear and have high frequency loss in the other (MC Crash in 2001, left turner in front of me). That said I could hear my surroundings just as I normally would. Very little wind noise in either position, but I am behind a batwing.

Comfort:
After a 3 day break in - which I knew was coming so I wore it around the house before the trip (and yes the wife and kids laughed at me - alot). Very comfortable and no "itch feeling" after hours wering it. It's a little snug getting it on and off but that (to me) means a good hard outter shell, just enough flex in it. Again with the chin bar up (and behind) there's nothing catching the wind and pulling my head backwards.

Airflow:
Eh... the vents are OK I guess but who needs vents when with one hand you open the chin bar and RIDE with it open???? With the chin bar up and the top vent open (in FL especially) I could feel the airflow over the top of my head and I kept cool even in the heat down in Daytona.< br />
Visors:
The clear shield has 9 settings, I used 3 or 4 of them. Just cracked to defog and it never closed on its own on me. Almost all the way open to get some wind in the face and it didn't go allt he way back on its own it the wind.

The sun visor is AWESOME!!!! Riding due East into the sun, perfect amount of sun protection. The settings are friction based so you can put it where ever you like. It comes all the way down and touches my nose or goes completely out of sight. Unlike most others I tried on (and seem to be geared towards the forward leaning sport bikes)

It does take a while to get used to the new location for the thumb tab that helps you open the clear shield, it's top center vs lower left side. But once you get that down the frustration level to open the shield goes away.

Chin bar operation:
Single hand, shield goes up first (don't forget this) LOTS of warnings about this in the box. Forget and you ruin your shield. Then a thumb press on the red button, it pops open and you just rotate it back. Clicks into place and stays put.

Bring it back with a slight tug (shield up first!) then click it in (towards your face) kinda like a seat belt click. Solid and won't move if clicked in correctly, then you can put the shield back down.

Overall... best helmet I ever owned.

3Good, not great.
By Mark E. Mayo
Pappalonis has written a great review. There isn't much more that I can add to the good things about this helmet. But, for me, there were a few things that stood out once I got it on and used it that I could not overlook. I ride a BMW G650GS Sertao, so mileage may vary depending on what you ride. I have a 7 1/4" head size and the XL fit well.

- Weight was mentioned before. This is a heavy helmet. It is well balanced, but it is still heavy.
- I had too much buffeting while riding. It might be the position of the windscreen, but it is not a movable windscreen. It was too much for me to be comfortable with for more than an hour of riding.
- Noise: It is a noisy helmet. As I sat in front of my computer listening to Pandora, I could hear just as well, if not better with the helmet on. I would have expected the music to be quieter or at least muffled with the helmet on, but it was not. It wasn't any better while riding.
- No chin curtain. T here is nothing up front to keep the cold winter air out. Even the cheap Bell Revolver has a chin curtain.
- Sharktooth: The Sharktooth unit is a nice unit. There are cutouts for the speakers, but I didn't find any such cutout for the battery or charging cable. I really wasn't sure what to do with them.
- Air Flow: It is non-existent with this helmet. Yes you can flip it up, but that wasn't good enough for me.

All and all, a nice helmet with a novel design. There were too many negatives for me that outweighed the positives though. I now have a Shoei Neotec on order.

4Returned because it was too small -- but great helmet
By Robert Ferguson
I purchased this helmet for it's many positives -- Blue tooth mount prepared -- open or closed face -- one hand open & close -- medium was the only size available -- I went to Shark's website to get sizing info. -- I followed the instructions, however the sizing chart said I was a Medium and when the Medium arrived it was Too Small -- almost ripped my ears off getting it off my head -- great helmet though -- I'll be looking for a Size Large - -
